Access Floor System

An access floor system is utilized in modern buildings, particularly in IT
centers, with high servicing requirements for cables, wiring, electrical
supply, and sometimes air conditioning or chilled water pipes. It
comprises a gridded metal framework with adjustable-height legs
(pedestals) supporting individual 600 x 600 mm floor panels. The height
of the legs is determined by the volume of services below, usually
allowing a minimum 80 mm clearance. Additional structural support and
lighting may be incorporated for spaces where personnel can crawl or
walk beneath the raised floor.
